Consisting chiefly of business and personal correspondence with family members in New England; letter, 3 Dec. 1842, from Leonard and Elender Lain, Carrol[l] County, Mississippi, re birth of a daughter, shortage of money, and requesting that Osborn send them money via the mail; petition, 26 Nov. 1845, Chester District, to the South Carolina General Assembly, to have a public road routed from the York- Pinckney Road to Osborn's mill on Lockhart Shoals (petiton bears no markings indicating it was ever presented to the legislature and is probably Osborn's citizen copy). Other papers include 2 letters, 12 Oct. 1848 and 25 May [18uu], Fitchburg, Mass., brother Abram Osborn, to A.W. Osborn, Lockhart Shoals, S.C., re death of his wife and daughter at a railway crossing and his intentions to sue the company and informing Amos of whereabouts of other members of the family; and 2 letters, 2 June and 21 July 1849, Fitchburg, Mass., Amos W. Osborn to his wife, [Elizabeth McCalla Osborn], describing his return to Massachusetts after twenty-one years, son Wade's apprenticeship in a paper mill at Pepperell, Mass., and an encounter with an abolitionist. Also includes petition, 26 Nov. 1845, Chester District, to the South Carolina General Assembly, to have a public road from the York- Pinckney Road to Osborn's mill. Petiton bears no markings indicating it was ever presented to the legislature and is probably Osborn's copy.
